It was an awesome day to be a NERD, seeing your favourite characters "come to life", interacting with them, openly celebrating your NERD-hood and just allowing yourself to enjoy everything happening around you. The dayss activities started off with a welcome and introduction message from Anime Nerds of Jamaica's President Tianna Powell and other members of the ANJ body. The rules of engagement were delivered and patrons were reminded to abide by them accordingly to ensure that it was an enjoyable day for all in attendance.

Before we got into the really fun parts of the day; our Educators at the venue Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI)  and Jamaica Animation Nation Network JANN hosted some short but very informative and educational sessions to share some opportunities and possible career path available through each entity - check out their websites for more details.

The atmosphere was so exciting I often found myself getting chills and "geeking" embarassed out every time I saw something new. My first instance was when I saw someone (totally forgot to ask her name) cosplaying as Ladybug from Miraculous and thought how excited the kids would be to see her (I later went to pick them up just to see the reaction and man was it a sight to see). The creativity of the cosplayers were on full display and you could clearly see the skill and potential they possess and feel the passion they have for Anime and the Japanese culture. The crowd was kept fully entertained with dancing performances by *insert dancers here*,  game demo play Japter Dark, Xbox One tournaments by SVG Nation, Melon Eating Contest, 5lb Ramen eating contest, Gymnatics by *insert gym name here* and of course the day's main event the Cosplay Competition

Towards the end of the day eSports Jamaica and Empire Arcadia teamed up to give away $20,000 in cash to the top 3 participants in a free to enter Just Dance 2018 Tournament on the Nintendo Switch. The first 16 patrons to register were given the chance to throw down to Bruno Mars' 24k magic and maaaaaaaaan did they throw down. The grand final dance was between Allex - cosplaying as a member of THE AKATSUKI from Naruto  and Tammie a video game lover whose topped scores in the dance off phase were within 25 points of each other Allexx got 11238 while Tammie got 11214.  Allexx danced his A$$ off to walk away with $10,000 while Tammie settle for the runner up position winning $6000 and our third place winner Khano was happy to go home $4000 richer!
