Advice to our local Gamers

Just want to take the time out to prepare our gamers for what is coming next for Esports in Jamaica. I promise you that by the end of this year the structure of Esports will start to become more visible and everyone will start to recognize the potential of this industry and it's value to Jamaica's economy.

Your Digital Resume Your Brand Identity

1. Everything you do online is a part of your digital resume. The videos, the images, the post, the streams etc is a representation of you and helps to build and define your brand identity. When teams and sponsors starts to look for players to recruit and align themselves with they will be reviewing your digital resume.
I see the posts, I watch the streams and I see the highlights and I have to give props to players who have already built up a professionally looking digital resume and have defined their brand identity you will be at the forefront to be recruited. For others who are struggling or have not been able to portray themselves as professionals the rest of this is mainly for you.

Build your own identity and represent your culture

2. What do I mean by this? Most of us use the Esports industry in the USA and other countries as reference for how to go about Esports in Jamaica especially when it comes to streaming and using social media. Sometimes instead of using it as just reference point we tend to replicate it and fail to realize that our target audience is different. We should be building something that is acceptable by everyone especially your fellow Jamaicans and mainly Jamaican Companies as they will be the ones investing the most in this industry. When you stream or post anything online 99% of the persons watching or viewing your post will be Jamaicans or persons in the Caribbean. So try to embrace and showcase your culture as much as possible. As pioneers of the industry the next generation of Jamaican gamers will be looking for someone locally to emulate.

Your alias is the most important part of your brand identity

3. When choosing an alias whether it's for social media or a game that name will stick and will be what people use to make reference you. You should ensure it is easily acceptable and doesn't raise eyebrows or any red flags. Imagine your alias as the name you place on a resume when you apply for a job and think about what image it will paint to the person reviewing it. Stay away from demeaning, derogatory, discriminative, overly violent, religious, sexist or anything else that will be seen offensive. Think of your alias as the name of a business that you'd want people to invest in. Prepare yourself to become an ambassador!
